The Creative Media Lab was honored to have filmmaker Laura Marques visit two video workshop courses on Monday January 13th, 2020. Laura presented her film “Vacas e Rainhas” (Cows and Queens) from 2018. The film was part of DocLisboa in Portugal and also joined the DocLisboa Macao extension organized by the Instituto Português do Oriente (IPOR). Special thanks to Patricia Riberio for helping to arrange Laura’s visit to our campus.
Laura Marques’ presentation focused on her use of ethnographic and experimental filmmaking techniques. She highlighted a particular scene where she rigged a camera to a cow’s head and showed it’s perspective of her. This creativity and concern for human, animal relations left a lasting impression on the aspiring student filmmakers.
