The Department of Communication at the University of Macau will host a screening of the Video Workshop II student films on May 13th, at 6pm in the Student Union Theatre (E31). These 6 short films are produced by final year students majoring in Communication and specializing in the Creative Media stream.
Video Workshop II is a capstone course that is designed to challenge students to think critically and creatively through the hands-on experience of making their own short films. The theme for the course this semester is “Ecology.” Students were encouraged to take an ecological approach in their films by showing characters interacting with their environment and telling stories that emphasize how people adapt to the natural and built worlds around them.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, he is submitted to a 21 day quarantine at a hotel and his 21 day stay leads him to learn how to rely on himself and his surroundings.

GEI LOU / 汽水販賣員
A young man works as a vending machine salesman. At first, he was very frustrated with this job, thinking that he had lost the meaning of life. At that time, a middle school student often brought his friends to this vending machine to buy sodas. He did not know that someone was working inside the machine. The encounter between these two people turned into a habit, and this habit gradually helped the salesman find his own value.

Um jovem trabalha como vendedor de máquinas de venda automática. No início, ele estava muito frustrado com este trabalho, pensando que havia perdido o sentido da vida. Naquela época, um estudante do ensino médio costumava trazer seus amigos para comprar refrigerantes nessa máquina de venda automática. Ele não sabia que alguém estava trabalhando dentro da máquina. O encontro entre essas duas pessoas se tornou um hábito, e esse hábito aos poucos ajudou o vendedor a encontrar seu próprio valor.
